Conservative treatment
Non-surgical treatment – conservative therapy depends on the degree of pain and the patient’s state. When faced with sudden strong pain, we above all recommend you rest. We prescribe anti-pain medication. Patients with chronic issues benefit the most from physical therapy (stretching exercises, electrotherapy and swimming).
Operation: Lumbar microdiscectomy
The surgery is necessary with diagnosed spinal disc herniation (SDH) when the pain is very intense and does not respond to usual treatment. The operation is sometimes also justified if the nerve or muscle are numb, even though the pain is not serious. As already mentioned, the surgery is obligatory with cauda equina syndrome.
