Personnel

Procedure from admission to discharge and your carers.

Upon admission to hospital you will first take care of the administrative part of your procedure in the admissions office. From then on, everything will happens according to plan. First you are received at the surgical clinic by a nurse, then examined by a specialist anesthesiologist who will be taking care of anesthesia during your surgery. After the procedure is completed you will wake up from anesthesia in the operating theatre and then transferred to the inpatient department where nurses and physiotherapists will take care of you. If required, radiology engineers will take additional X-ray images of your lungs. Patients recovering from surgeries of hiatal hernias or GERD undergo contrast X-ray imaging of the esophagus. These patients will also be visited by a dietitian before their discharge from hospital.

You will be closely monitored by specialist surgeons and physicians during your stay at the hospital. Upon discharge from hospital your nurse and physician will provide you with a discharge note, instructions for your care at home and a date for a control visit at the specialist clinic. Each patient also receives the mobile telephone number of the specialist surgeon who performed the procedure. Specialist surgeons are available to patients in case of any problems at any time after discharge from the hospital.
